A Polyhedral Harbinger
Before the LAAAAME Observatory was destroyed, an adventurer with the unlikely name of BlackMage (well, at least it wasn't Seymour Buttz) discovered a sinister dodecahedron floating in deep space. The astronomers revealed that they had studied the craft extensively, and that it was a spaceship populated by a race of cyborgs that went from planet to planet assimilating other cultures. The astronomers assured everyone that there was no cause for alarm, because the ship was light years away -- and besides, who wouldn't want a laser eye, or a can opener instead of an arm?

Despite those reassurances, many adventurers were alarmed when they visited the not-too-distant future of Crimbo during the Crimboween holiday. There, they found a robotic, metallic, geometrical Crimbo Town populated by emotionless, hiveminded elves that called themselves the "Crimborg." Could it be that the dodecahedron would arrive sometime in the near future, ending Crimbo as we know it, overcoming all resistance?

Surely not. Surely these were the shadows of things that might be, not things that will be. Surely, since Uncle Crimbo was rescued and restored to his rightful place as monarch of Crimbo, that timeline was averted. Surely the dodecahedron was just a one-off, a joke from an inscrutable creator.

Read on and you'll see -- and don't call me Shirley.
